Teamfight Tactics Set 16 cinematic marquee

client: Riot Games | contribution: direction, storyboards , visual development, asset illustration

An homage to League of Legend's roots, this cinematic calls back to previous marquees with a Teamfight Tactics twist. I was particularly excited to be involved in the process from previz to launch. Here you'll see a side-by-side of the animatic against the final picture.

A challenge we encountered was how to transition between the graphical book pages and the animated scenes. We needed to plan the pages so that the images in the pages lined up with the match cuts in the animation. I ended up illustrating these elements, which are in the final film. I also made our "dummy" pages, which represented the different regions of Runeterra.

In the Bilgewater pages, you may find a little easter egg dedicated to our Creative Director Jonathan Santoro, as well as the names of our long-time collaborators Jean-Charles and Clement from Studio Eddy in the scribblings.

Part of my responsibilities was to provide paintovers to direct the animation studio as we received the shots, with a focus on brand accuracy.
